Dave Caruso – Columbus Chill Hockey Club founder in 2015


Dave Caruso currently serves as the Senior Director of Amateur Hockey Programming for the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he oversees the development of youth hockey in Central Ohio. In 2024, Caruso will made his debut as an assistant coach for the U.S. Youth Olympic Men’s Hockey Team capturing a Gold Medal. His prior international experience includes serving as an assistant coach for the U.S. Under-17 Select Team, which earned a silver medal at the 2019 Five Nations Tournament.


Before joining the Blue Jackets, Caruso was Manager of Coaching Education for USA Hockey, where he played a pivotal role in the development of coaches across the country. He also worked as a Goaltender Development Coordinator and Associate Coach-in-Chief for USA Hockey's Mid-American District.


Caruso's coaching resume extends across multiple levels of hockey. He spent two years as the Goalie Coach for the New Jersey Devils and worked with various youth, high school, and collegiate teams in Central Ohio as a skills/goalie coach. Caruso also served as the Head Coach for the 14U Ohio AAA Blue Jackets from 2016 to 2019, helping to shape the next generation of elite players. Additionally, he is an International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Mentor Coach and has held roles as Goaltending Development Coordinator for USA Hockey's MidAm District.


As a player, Caruso was a standout goaltender for four years at The Ohio State University before embarking on a six-year professional career with the Atlanta Thrashers and New Jersey Devils organizations. He also spent two years playing junior hockey with the Boston Bulldogs under NCAA Champion coach Mike Addesa.


In addition to his playing time in the AHL, Caruso has held positions as a Goaltending Coach for the Albany Devils (AHL, 2012-14), a Goaltending Mentor Coach for the IIHF (2017-18), and a Goaltending Consultant for the Ohio State University men's ice hockey team (2017-19).
